AboutPaul graduated from Rhodes University in 1985 with a BA (Hons) (cum laude) and then in 1987 with an M.Sc (cum laude) both in Human Kinetics.

Background InfoFollowing his studies, Paul lectured at Rhodes and at the University of the Witwatersrand in pure and applied physiology and anatomy. In 1995 he left full-time academia and started a private practice in Howick in the Natal Midlands – Midlands Wellness and Fitness Centre. Between 1999 and 2006 he lectured at the Pietermaritzburg Varsity College Campus the Sports Management Diploma Program and between 1999 and 2004 in the Michaelhouse Sixth Form program Integrated Sports Studies. In 1997 Paul was registered as a practicing Biokineticist and has been in practice since then. In this time he has been the consultant Biokineticist to Hilton College (1997 to 2011), Michaelhouse, Howick High School and Brookdale Health Spa. In 2014 his practice was officially recognised as the first satellite Sharks Medical Centre outside of Durban. In 2000 Paul was elected as Chairman of the KZN regional Biokinetics Association. He has played national-level sport and has completed many events such as Comrades, Ultra-Triathlons, Duathlon, the Argus and Herald cycle events and the Giants Castle Challenge. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals including the South African Journal of Science, Journal of Anatomy, Applied Ergonomics and the Journal of the Ergonomics Society of Southern Africa.

Paul's InterestsAs a practitioner Paul’s interests are in sports injury and general orthopaedic rehabilitation, chronic disease prevention and management. He also has extensive experience in sports conditioning for young athletes. His practice is accredited by the Health Professionals Council of South Africa as a training facility for Biokinetic Interns (since 1999), and he is accredited by Discovery Vitality to do the Vitality Fitness Assessment.
